But I think the thing I learned the most from or gained the most from was color theory. I have taken many art classes at the school as well as out of school and I never learned color theory this way. I didn't really understand the elementary idea of complementary colors until we went over it in class. Blue and Orange. Purple and yellow. It's really cool now that I understand it.
When I looked at things in nature in the past, I always just thought. "That tree is brown. That leaf is green." But once you asked us what color we saw, I was immediately able to say purple or red. I just needed to be asked in that way. "What do you see" rather than what I thought I saw.
I've really enjoyed the whole color theory water-color painting thing we have been doing. Even in my fashion drawings I'm using color in different ways and the clothing is looking a lot better because of it. The shadows are looking more realistic as well.
We have learned tons of facts and explored tons of things this quarter but Color theory was the only thing I felt didn't just go into our Library of knowledge, we can actually put it to use in our artwork and the way we view the world. Now, when I see the orange leaves against the blue sky, I think "COMPLEMENTARY COLOR" and its changed the way I can look at things.
